About
Initially, the “Social Media Job Experiment” was created to see how I would find work using social media after a multi-year stint at Ogilvy Public Relations. Ironically, I have never stopped working although the parameters of my work environment have changed a lot. This blog now serves a better purpose; to offer commentary on social media, its affects on society and how we can integrate honest brand conversation into the user experience without poisoning the environment.
Please feel free to comment, respond or reach out if you have any thoughts or feedback you would like to share on topics related to brand messaging.

UNISON AGENCY

If you are wondering what the next big digital “thing” is, chances are that Russell Hirshon is testing it on one of his many mobile devices. This comes naturally, as he has spent the last 15 years working for leading interactive agencies and technical groups in the development of websites, online applications, programs and strategies.
Beginning in 1994, Mr. Hirshon began at Magnet Interactive Studios as a production assistant on Discovery Communications series of CD- ROM games. Shortly thereafter, he was one of several programmers who helped deliver the first online deployments of the National Geographic, Mercedes and Kellogg’s websites. He later became a senior project manager at Magnet Interactive, managing all of Discovery Communications’ projects.
In 2000, Mr. Hirshon became Vice President of Web Initiatives for Noor LLC. Based in Cairo and set to deliver an AOL model of services to the Middle East and North Africa region, Mr. Hirshon was responsible for the development of an Arabic-English content portal.
Joining MCI in 2002 as a product manager, he actively developed and launched the first TTY alternative service through AIM for the deaf and hard of hearing. This service allowed deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals the ability to place mobile text calls (through a speaking operator) from anywhere and freed them from the constraints of traditional landlines.
Mr. Hirshon joined Ogilvy Public Relations in 2007 as part of the 360 Degree Digital Influence team.
Russell Hirshon is currently the Senior Digital Strategist for the Unison Agency.
